Euphorbia godana (Lav 13176)
Euphorbia godana comes from Mt. Goda in Djibouti, where it grows as a branching medusoid-like spiny shrub, with a reduced main stem in the center, similar to a typical medusoid Euphorbia. E. godana forms a single main spine per spine shield, along with goldenrod colored cyathia which are very showy when in flower. The epidermis can sometimes be more blue-toned than green, with some variegated patterning along all of the stems.
This species is typically sold from cutting, which forms more atypical growth patterns than from seed. Cuttings do not form a reduced main stem in the center of the plant. Euphorbia godana is self-fertile, though is extremely unreliable in setting seed.
These plants are derived from self-pollination of a cutting of Lav 13176, a Lavranos collection plant. I can provide data on Lav 13176 if you acquire this seedling.
The seedling offered here is 2 years old in a 2.5 inch tree pot.
